maybe joe imagined the whole thing? i mean alot was happening around that time, people falling out windows, etc....the stress probably got to him..but then what about the call to his friend? Plus the question is still valid as to whats in the box even if he was imagining it.

Thats what you get for being a horny bastard late at nite joe LOL, just couldn't resist that voice could you? LOL

It reminds me of the episode of the Twilight Zone where this anonymous person brings a box with a button on it to the main character's home and tells him that if he presses it someone he doesn't know will die. In exchange for that, he will be given X amount of money and there won't be any repercussions. And so the person does it and the man returns for the box with the money and says when asked what now? "Now I will give the box to someone who doesn't know you!" Creepy. Sounds like this one eh?

How awesome would it be to have that scene made into a short film huh? like a classic noir type....man that would just be a thing of art. You got your dark hallway, shadowy office, mysterious stranger, ambiguous ending...in the hands of a real talented director/producer, that thing would be a hit for sure.

that story was one of the scariest things i've ever heard
especially when he calls his friend afterward to ask what to do and his friend says, "burn the tie and don't ever call me or talk to me again."
if i recall correctly, after she leaves, he goes to get the box from the cabinet where he had previously agreed to hide it for her and there's nothing there.
i think the box had something metaphysical in it, like someone's soul . . . .
