First Episodes

Mine was the one about the corrutped bible salesman. My friend made me a tape of it, and I've listened to it so many times, i know many of the parts by heart. Man, when he shoots that choir boy, that's some cold shit.
I even based a roleplaying character on him. We played this zombie roleplaying game called "all brains must be eaten" and i was this corrupted bible salesman fighting zombies that were animated corpses of the nearby elderly rest home. I narrowly escaped the police/military baricade surrounding the scene of the crime, and the cops tryed to play it(the zombie massacre) off as a marauding gang of satanists eating old people's brains. All because of the corrupted bibles found in the ruins of that greasy spoon that burnt down.
Anyways, my character managed to leak his story to the weekly world news and it goes on from there...
so what was your first episode?

Mountain Rain - his father dying, ex-wife wanting money, the climbers on K2. Still my favorite.

That's right, why should Joe Frank make money off of his work, anyway? I mean, being minor cult figure with an obscure radio show and a book or two, he must be a millionaire already!

BTW, the first show I remember was about a minister who's being pressured to move his church farther out of town.

"You cannot buy my congregation..."; I can still hear it in my head, though I only caught it once, over a decade ago.

                      That's probably Blues Singer.

                      Nice show!

My first encounter with Joe involved sitting for 50 minutes in a parked car in a music store lot on a flaming hot sunday morning, waiting for Three Shingles to finish. I'd never heard anything like it. After that, I was hooked.

I heard that one with the guy stealing brownies. I thought it was incredible, and that was the first Joe Frank show I became conscious of. The first one that I heard, however, was the one where the woman keeps calling the guy's house claiming that she's taking their children out to the park or something and meanwhile the guy is screaming at the woman that she's crazy and delusional and to leave him alone because he didn't love her. The guy's girlfriend even gets involved, I think, and starts to yell at her. There were one or two like that, and those were the first ones I heard. They gave me the creeps, but I was fascinated.

              bad karma.

sitting at a dinner party w/ pol pot, hitler, stalin ... then, after thinking about it, Joe asks "Why am I here? What did I do??"

from that moment I was hooked

Randomly scanning the radio on night, I came across this scene where this guy (JF) was getting a bath from a French woman, the whole atmosphere and mood of the thing had me hooked at once.
My name is Adrian and I'm addicted to JF shows.

My first one was the one where Joe, presumably as himself, calls all his old girlfriends one by one and tells each of them that they are his one true love, and sings to them while playing the guitar. Awesome. My favorite ones are The Box (see other thread--put forth your own idea as to what's in the box!) and Fat Man Down (the brownie stealing one) plus too many others to mention. Especially the one where the priest falls in love with one of his parishioners. . . and let's not forget "No Show" where he says he didn't have time to write his show that week and then spends the rest of the hour describing all these intense things that happened that week that got in the way of writing his show. . . .

lol yeah, I wish I could show up for my exams unprepared and just describe the crazy week I had as a reason for not being ready heehee.

Yeah, the one where the young priest falls in love with the young girl and after revealing himself to her out in the boat, she's just terrified, man....I really felt for the guy. I think he moved away and no one heard from him again. Amazing how these tales stay with you after hearing 'em even once, says something about the talent of the man.

Hey there, does anybody know the title of this one with Joe calling his old girlfriends? This sounds like it might have that segment I've been looking for--in my other "what episode" post. Thanks everybody.
