Greetings,

Thanks to everyone who has written Joe wishing him well over the past few months. Here's (briefly) what happened:

In mid-January, Joe was laid up, unable to walk. Medication he was taking led to internal bleeding and a week (February 18-25) at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica.

Then, in the early morning hours of April 5th, Joe experienced severe abdominal pain. His girlfriend drove him to the emergency room where, after a battery of diagnostic tests, Joe was told he had experienced sudden, irreversible kidney failure (Joe lost his other kidney in 1991).

After three weeks in the hospital, where he began dialysis treatments, Joe returned home. He now goes for dialysis three times a week.

The ordeal was initially shocking and overwhelming. Joe lost the stamina and motivation to work. In time, though, he began to keep a journal and to record phone conversations with his radio collaborators.

With this material, Joe is now in the process of creating a new radio series based on his experience called, "The Santa Monica Book of the Dead."

Since early April, we have committed our time to helping Joe with his personal affairs and have not had a chance to add new Premium content. We are grateful to the loyal and committed Members of JoeFrank.com. Because of you, we will be able to upload new Premium content (in addition to Joe's new series), and continue to keep all of the archived shows available for all Premium Members.

Later this week, Premium Members will be able to see two highly produced comic Joe Frank films (which appeared in his live performances in Chicago and San Francisco) plus a few other items we will upload. And we'll move quickly ahead implementing our plan to improve the site, offer downloads, T-shirts, and more.

Keep checking www.joefrank.com for updates and we'll send a Newsletter out announcing the first installment of Joe's new series.

Thanks again for your continued support,

Greetings! Here's what's new in February at Joe Frank.com

February Premium Content

Valentine's Day: Joe was scheduled in the studio to finish off his latest show for the site when . . . he was rushed to the ER, and immediately admitted into the hospital. ( He was released after several days; he's all right, at home and recovering. )

In addition, when the team visited Joe in the hospital on Wednesday, we all got food poisoning from eating in the brand new Hospital Cafeteria. Sounds like something out of a Joe Frank show, but believe us. It was real and it was wretched. We just got back on our feet last Sunday, February 20th.

So, the Premium Content is late coming online in February, but we're making it up to you by offering more than usual.

See details here:

Coming soon!!

Downloads for your iPod

We're targeting mid-March to have all of the shows available for download to your iPod ... Stay tuned!

Index Magazine Interview

Joe Frank is featured in the April / May issue of Index Magazine. The interview, conducted by John Wentworth, is accompanied by recent pictures of Joe late at night in Los Angeles. We've seen a draft of the interview and it's thought-provoking and very funny.

I missed Joe's recent show in SF because I found out too late, sold out. So, in order to make sure that doesn't happen again, I subscribed to Joe Frank's newsletter. I'll post the newsletters here in this thread as I get them for others who aren't subscribed, here's December's:

December 21, 2004:
Early morning of the 19th we experienced a severe hardware malfunction forcing us to configure a new server and move the web site. You probably noticed varying stages of our "progress" getting the site back to normal. Late last night, we finally succeeded. (Thanks for your patience.)

For those of you who placed orders on the 19th we have received them and will send everything out priority mail today. You should receive the package by Friday the 19th.

If you wanted to place an order while the site was down, you can place your order now, and we'll send it out priority mail today as well. If you place an order for 5 or more CDs, we'll send it using FedEx at no extra charge. Please include your phone number in the comments section of the PayPal checkout.

For an additional $6.00 charge, orders received today, Wednesday and Thursday (by 3:00pm California time), will be shipped using FedEx at your request. After you place your order on JoeFrank.com, go to your PayPal account and send a payment to shop@joefrank.com for $6.00. Note in the Comments section your telephone number (required by FedEx) and that you want your order shipped via FedEx.

Other news:
Most of you know that Joe's new show for December, "Bottle for a Headstone," is online for Premium Members. Also available for Premium Members: rare early Joe Frank aired on NPR Playhouse.

Changes coming next month:
In early January, the October, November and December premium material will be archived and available at a nominal charge. Premium Members will then have access to new material introduced monthly. At the end of each month, the show produced for that month will be archived.

There's a lot more coming next month - we'll send January's newsletter out soon.

Again, thanks for your patience.
